Jaded

Oh, I love this prompt. I love thinking about my future home in my free time. I feel as though designing a house of your own is the biggest form of expression there is.

I want a small, warm house, lighting and feeling wise. I want the main colors of the house to be white with light wood accents. I also want shades of brown, orange, subtle pinks, greens,

I want a wooden bookshelf built in under the staircase. On the wall next to the staircase, I want it to be full of framed work. Paintings, memorabilia, photos, anything.

Circling back to the bookcase idea, I also want a reading nook. One of those nooks where it’s just a little seat inside the wall, with either a window or another bookshelf behind it.

Kitchen

I want the kitchen to be as homey as possible. I want soft wooden countertops, with soft white cabinets. The concept of open cabinets also interests me. To match these, I want a wooden dining table with a lacey white tablecloth. I want a dining area that is full of windows! With this, I also want a small window above the sink that I can look out of while washing dishes. The curtains for all of these windows would be a white lace, to match the tablecloth.

I want plans and flowers everywhere, decorating every room. I feel plants bring so much life and oxygen into a space, the home would feel dull and lifeless without them. I want to have vases with flowers that I refresh monthly.

Living Room

I desire a comfy, inviting living room. A brown couch, with a white chair. The chair would have a wooden base, so it matches the couch. Both of these would have soft white pillows. A small, circular table, instead of a huge one. Underneath this all, a patterned green rug to match the plants in the room. I’d like a big window behind the couch, and a wooden television stand. On it, a television not too big, and not too small for the room. I’d like small, individual wooden shelfs next to the window. Here we can place books, plants, and trinkets.

A white fireplace with plants all around it is optional, but it would be beautiful.

I would also like a corner in the living room to have a small and low wooden table; one I can kneel at. This would be perfect for crafts, practicing tarot cards, or meditation.

My Bedroom

For my bedroom, I want my dresser, bedside table, and my bedframe to match. The same light wooden vibe. I want candles and small lamps over the dresser, and one lamp on my bedside table. I want a window right above my bed, which I can set mugs of tea, books, and plants on. I want white lace curtains that drape on either side of the bed. The most important part is that I have tons of pillows, I’m talking about six, at least (plus a body pillow). A few paintings in this room would also be nice.

Although I really love the concept of minimalism, I would want my house to be as full as possible of things that express who I am and what I love. I want lots and lots of memorabilia and symbols of my interests scattered around. Not in a cluttery way, in a way in which they all fit together, like a very big puzzle.

I cannot wait to be able to have my own house, where I can express myself fully and unapologetically.
